During this project many skills were developed. Experience was gained using motor control methods such as PID, and in combining multiple sensors (limit switches/encoders) to precisely position an end effector. Being two ECE majors, Daniel and Patrick learned about mechanical systems and how they are put together with an electrical system for a functional robot. Various testings of distances were measured throughout the project on the mechanical aspect of the robot to ensure switches, encoders, and IR sensors would be able to read information as the robot moved. As an ME major, Jarod gained knowledge regarding our circuitry and wiring schematic. We all learned that robotics is a very time consuming class, especially since we all had four classes including senior design at the same time. If we were to take this class over again, we would definitely start earlier in the term while classes weren't as hard.
