Hello from the PTO President!
When my kids were little, I thought I’d never have a spare moment to be involved at their schools. But then a mom-friend asked me for help packing School Supply kits. And another called me when a Book Fair was understaffed. Then another couple asked if we were going to the Spring Fling. The Spring Fling? I didn’t even know what that was, but it turned out to be such a great time that it became a must-do annual event for my husband and I!
Eventually I realized that all of these activities were made possible through the same organization: The PTO.
If there’s a school event your kid enjoys, chances are the PTO is involved with it. Are they on an athletic team? The PTO supports them and staffs the Snack Shack during games. Do they like the Science Fair, Robotics Club, Chess Tournaments or Edison Field Day? The PTO sponsors those. Do they love music and the arts? The Fine Arts Boosters (FAB) works hand-in-hand with the PTO to support their events.
But we’re also here to build our community. Events like the Madison Meetup, Spring Fling and Bingo Night are not just fun nights out, but they give us all a chance to socialize. And I know I’ve benefitted countless times from the relationships I’ve built with District teachers and parents at events like these.
So… consider attending a PTO meeting. Check your Principal Newletters for PTO updates. Shoot an email to District69PTO@gmail.com to get on our mailing list. Or just come to a PTO event and have a great time! You won’t regret it.
Here’s to a GREAT 2025-26 school year!

A Bit About Jill
Jill Dugan is a commercial video editor by day, PTO President by night. With one kid in high school and the other in 5th grade at Edison, she’s been around the District 69 block. When she’s not picking up wet bathing suits off the floor, she’s either obsessing over her garden or checking out the neighborhood birds. You can find her in the Bingo tent at the Backlot Bash, or drop her a line a District69PTO@gmail.com.
PTO Mission
The District 69 PTO, officially established as a not-for-profit PTA in 1978, is organized to support quality programs and events in our district's schools. These efforts typically reach beyond the regular classroom experience and act as a supplement to the curriculum at each grade level. We also try to foster open communication between parents, teachers, and administrators. One PTO unit links all three schools in our district: Madison, Edison, and Lincoln Junior High. Additionally, the PTO links our community of parents, teachers, and administrators together in a common goal: to benefit the health, welfare, safety, or education of students in District 69.
