Taken in front of Hall 7 in NTU, Singapore. We were testing SLAM algorithm on the Asctec Pelican UAV.
Taken at the Science Centre in Singapore. We were exhibiting our autonomous golf car and autonomous electric car for public to obtain their opinion and ideas.
Taken during Prof. Rohan Abeyrathne's last day at SMART as the director. He went back to MIT.
Taken in between S1 and S2 buildings of NTU, Singapore. We were collecting a dataset to test our Collaborative SLAM (CSLAM) algorithm.
This is our lab located at level B4 in S1 in NTU, Singapore. You can see me at the corner. Probably I should have smiled a bit more so that you can see me :-D.
Testing the performance of Collaborative SLAM (CSLAM) algorithm with Clearpath Husky robots.
Testing of SLAM algorithm in our Astec Pelican UAV.
More testing ... Lifted the VLP-16 to mimic performing SLAM in a UAV with a 3D Lidar sensor. Conclusion: It was not a good idea, we switched to vision based SLAM instead. It's cheap and light weight alternative with higher accuracy.
Just wanted to take to photo to remind me of what we've been doing for the collaborative exploration project. Clearpath Husky is an awesome robot, I really enjoyed working with them (we had two).
Taken in 2008, I took part in TechX robotics competition in Singapore. We developed a robotic system (not the platform, which is a packbot we bought) that starts from an outdoor location, enters a building, takes a lift and detect a set of known targets and come back. Unfortunately none of the robots could enter the building due to poorly designed outdoor environment.
Taken in 2013, I was a member of NTU team for TechX robotics competition in Singapore. We developed our own robots (except for the PackBot) this time, and the mission was to detect and identify a set of known targets placed at multiple buildings in a military site.
Probably taken between 2010-2013, we were doing sea trial experiments on a barge in the sea.
Me and my friend Akshay during sea trial experiments. Waking up at 5.30 am and going to the sea to collect data is a very stressful experience. We had only a limited amount of time.
