This course is an introduction to computer literacy and Digital Citizenship. Students will have opportunities to use technology and develop skills that encourage creativity, critical thinking, productivity, and collaboration in the classroom and day-to-day life. Skills will be demonstrated by producing assignments based upon State of Utah mandated curriculum. All work must be uploaded to Canvas in order to get graded. Google Classroom is only used for reference and not for uploading assignments. This course is aligned with national and international standards and the Utah Core to prepare students across multiple levels of skills. Students will complete this course with a prerequisite to move into high school computer literacy courses.
You are expected to keep a journal and write 3 sentences each day when you arrive to class based upon the objectives for the day. Independent work is a goal for each of you. You will learn to be self-directed and will have an opportunity to work with a partner or in groups from time to time. When your work is done, you can read a paper book. (no computer games are permitted) You can play computer games at home. ALL work must be submitted to Canvas. If it is not in Canvas you will not receive credit. Your grade will be final in Aspire.

We will be using some photos for some assignments. Therefore, be prepared to have some digital photos that you can use from your phone or from a digital camera.

Students will use any or all of the following in a project to be presented to the Digital Literacy teacher and a cross-curricular teacher: document processing, spreadsheet, electronic, presentation.
