Planning for an inquiry, whether by a teacher or by a student, can be more successful if a mind mapping tool is used. Many programs, including Microsoft Word, Google Chrome's MindMap Chrome Extension, and Apache's OpenOffice Draw, include the ability to create mind maps. Diagrams.net (previously Draw.io) is a free online app that includes a large assortment of editable mind maps/flow charts and is quite intuitive to use. The webs created can be large or small and can use a variety of shapes and colours. The images below show our use of some of these mapping tools
Planning for the inquiry projects we developed as well as this project followed the 5Es instructional model using Catlin Tucker's resources. The originator of the5Es model was Rodger Bybee.
