Now that you've explored the Scratch interface, it's time to build your first basic program! You are going to create a simple animation where a character (sprite) says “Hello!” and moves across the screen.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Click here to create a project in Scratch
Click on "Create" in the top left corner
Choose a Sprite
Click the "Choose a Sprite" button. Pick any character you like!
Add a Start Block
Go to the Events category. Drag the “When green flag clicked” block to the workspace.
Make the Sprite Speak
From the Looks category, add “say Hello! for 2 seconds”.
Make the Sprite Move
From the Motion category, add “move 10 steps”. Try increasing to 50 or 100 to see the difference!
