Hi! My name is Caitlin Wright and this is my Digital Portfolio Project. I am 23 years old and this is my second year teaching. I am currently teaching 4th grade ELA. I work primarily with special education students. This portfolio is going to showcase my exploring the ISTE student standards throughout this course and my understanding of them. The ISTE Standards "provide a framework that guides educators, leaders, and coaches in using technology to create high-impact, sustainable, scalable and equitable learning experiences (International Society for Technology in Education)".  The student standards outline key competencies that students need to develop to become effective and responsible digital citizens.  The standard focuses on the role of technology in having students take an active role in their learning, reaching for their own goals and using the educational tools to help their own experiences. These standards help us address the shifting educational needs and help us understand the importance of self-directed learning in today's schools.
