Exemplar materials provided serve to show examples of others' work as well as how the mark scheme has been applied to said work.
The exemplar groups below are provided by CAIE and are separated into work of varying quality and outcome. It is just as helpful to look at a low scoring response to see areas for improvement, as it is with high-scoring responses.
The main aim of this material is to exemplify standards for those teaching Cambridge International AS & A Level Digital Media & Design (9481), and to show how different levels of candidates’ performance (high, middle and low) relate to the subject’s curriculum and assessment objectives.
The candidate responses have been chosen from June 2019 submissions for Component 1 and Component 2 and from June 2020 for Component 3 to exemplify a range of responses. For each Component, the response is annotated with a clear explanation of where and why marks were awarded or omitted. This is followed by examiner comments on how the work could have been improved. In this way, it is possible for you to understand what candidates have done to gain their marks and what they could do to improve their submissions. There is also a list of common mistakes candidates made for each Component.
The aim of these materials is to exemplify a response for both Component 1 and Component 2 for those teaching Cambridge International AS & A Level Digital Media & Design (9481).
Each answer is accompanied by comments which explain how the candidate has or has not met the criteria laid out in the syllabus and mark schemes.
