The focus group held at the Sustainable Education and Health Academy (SEHA) gathered volunteers from various backgrounds to explore their experiences in digital spaces, including risks such as misinformation, online harassment and the emotional effects of social media. Participants called for stronger digital literacy, early education on responsible tech use and support for vulnerable groups in navigating the online world, which should empower individuals while promoting equity and care in both physical and digital environments.
The students from the Università della Calabria shared their educational backgrounds, personal aspirations and motivations for studying, emphasizing the importance of inclusion, emotional support and self-growth. They highlighted the university's role not just in providing knowledge but in empowering individuals and responding to local social needs. Many expressed a desire to work in education or social services, often driven by personal experiences or values. They also discussed the risks of the digital world, such as online scams, hate speech and misinformation, stressing the emotional and psychological impact of harmful content.
20 students participated in the DIGIDEM focus group session at the University of Luxembourg. Over 90 minutes, they discussed democratic issues in small groups, guided by open-ended questions. Each group included facilitators, reporters and participants, leading to a final plenary debate to share and reflect on key insights. This session marked a meaningful step in the project’s participatory process.
