Serving as a nutrition volunteer at a local health center in Peru, I led and contributed to several community health initiatives, working across disciplines and translating nutrition science into practical, everyday guidance.
Weight Management Program for Overweight Patients
Collaborated with the center's physical therapy (aerobics) and psychology departments on a multidisciplinary weight-loss program for 15 overweight patients who regularly visited the health center
Led the nutrition component, teaching dietary habit correction, the importance of balanced nutrients, and practical strategies for eating a varied diet
Infant & Young Child Feeding Demonstration Classes
Taught parents and caregivers proper infant and young child feeding practices, including the importance of iron intake and how to structure a balanced plate for young children
Used live demonstrations to make feeding guidance concrete and easy to apply at home
Community Health Pamphlets
Designed and distributed two educational pamphlets for the local community: one on healthy eating habits, and one on diabetes and hypertension management
