To adopt existing items & develop new items of the following kinds so that they suit local circumstances & can be used in elementary education and elementary teacher education programmes.
Curricular units: - New locally relevant unit could be developed for the district in various subject to supplement the generally prescribed curricula. Such units may pertain to topics like local geography, folk lore, legend customs, forests, flora and fauna, fairs and festival, demography, geology, minerals, agriculture, industry, service occupation folk art, handicrafts, communities and tribes, institution etc.
Teaching learning for general as well as locally developed curricular units _ especially primers for classes I & II in tribal languages in districts having substantial tribal population.
Techniques and guidelines for continuous and summative learner-evaluation.
Most of the adoption/developments work as above would be done through workshops involving other concerned faculty, institution, experts, teacher and instructors.
To help DRU in development work as above for adult and non formal education.
To conduct workshops for the adaption/development work mentioned in (1) above, as also in-service programme relating to CMDE.
To provide CMDE related inputs in to all other programmes/activities of the institute, e.g. pre-service and in service programme for teachers, training programmes for STC/AE personal, field interaction activities, Action Research.
Evaluative tests have been devised to test such works –study skills as map reading, finding topics in reference book, using tables of contents and reading charts, graphs or tables.
A variety of techniques of appraisal, such as achievement, attitude, personality and character tests including also are rating scales, questionnaires, judgment scales of products, interviews, controlled observation techniques, sociometric techniques and anecdotal records.
