Bahia Vista - At Bahia Vista Elementary School, I was tasked with conducting an observational study and to then write a research paper on what I found. Knowing the economical background of the students at this school, I assumed that the staff would put in less time and effort into their students. I even conducted research prior about this topic. However, the staff effortlessly proved me wrong. The faculty were dedicated to creating an inclusive, collaborative, and friendly learning environment for their students. After a few weeks in this role, I changed my research topic to "How being an English Learner Student in American schools affects educational opportunities?" This topic resonated better with me as multiple members of my family have dealt with this struggle.
