Ordering New Uniforms

[7/31/2021] Uniforms are on a 6-8 week lead time. If you wish to order a uniform, consider the ETA. Orders placed by 8/15/21 may not arrive until mid-October! If you are unable to acquire a uniform in time for football games, but still wish to participate, please contact Head Coach Carrie Osmer for requirements for alternative attire.

If you forgot to order poms or shoes from Varsity, or if you want to order some other fun gear designed for DHS, you can use your login using your FITTING PASS credentials (or create a new login) to order your items directly and have them shipped to your home. Shoes and poms are available to order now, and more items will be added soon!

Uniforms: What is required this year?

2021-2022
SIDELINE UNIFORM

Uniforms are sold exclusively through Varsity Fashion, or used pieces can sometimes be found from veteran cheerleaders selling their pieces. Uniforms consist of the following items:

Shell: "Tank" style top that is worn over the top of the skirt.
Liner: The long-sleeve zip-up mock turtleneck that is worn under the shell. It is crop length and never worn without the shell.
Skirt: The skirt is worn at the natural waist (usually at or above the belly button) and the length should be past the thumbs when the cheerleader is standing straight with arms by their side.
Briefs: Navy blue boy-short style briefs worn under the skirt.
Poms: Poms are sold individually. They may be purchased through Varsity Fashion or through Cheer Zone (see section to the right).

OPTIONAL PIECES:

Warm-up Jacket: The Varsity Fashion warm-up jacket can be worn over the uniform at games when it gets cold outside.
Warm-up Pants: The Varsity Fashion warm-up pants may be worn underneath or instead of the skirt when it gets cold during games.

2021-2022
SIDELINE CHEER BOW

Bows will be the same as last season: Red ribbon with navy & white sparkle Dublin "D", navy & white sparkle bow center, and white sparkle name.

If you already have a DHS game bow, you do not need to order a new one unless you want another one.

Coach requests that DHS game bows shall have the DHS "D" logo and be red or navy in color.

Note: We normally order poms through Varsity Fashion with our uniform orders. If you missed the window to order poms through Varsity along with your uniform order, you can use the Varsity TEAM SHOP shown above to order your poms to your house. Alternatlively, a closely-matched pair can also be ordered through Cheer Zone.

CHEER SHOES

Cheer Shoes are required for games. Casual shoes such as Keds / Vans / Converse / Nike Air Force 1s are not suitable and are not allowed for practice or games. Keep in mind that cheer shoes are usually not offered in retail stores, so you normally need to purchase them online. Some brands can run small, so read sizing charts and reviews carefully, and allow yourself some time to make a return and purchase a new size if needed. Any all white cheer shoes are acceptable, and all-white no-show socks will also be required for games. If you have any questions about cheer shoes, please feel free to reach out to us before you purchase.

GAME BOW CARE

Use on Game Days: Reserve game bows primarily for games and/or performances. Use an inexpensive bow for practices. Between use, keep bow in a cool, dry environment away from items that can crush the bow.
Hair tie care & replacement: Use a separate hair band to secure hair in a high ponytail, then put the game bow on top. Using your game bow hair tie as the primary/only source to hold up your ponytail will over-stretch your hair tie and contribute to risk of breaking. If the hair tie breaks within the same season as your purchase, contact Coach Jen for a hair tie replacement.
Avoid floppy bows:
1. Keep them upright: Secure your bow with hair pins to keep it upright. on your head. Use a hair pin through the bow center and attach to hair, and/or use hair pins to secure the bow tails to the hair.
2. Stiffness: If your bow loses stiffness, you can put a structure (e.x., crumpled gift tissue or paper towels) inside the bow loops to maintain their loop structure, then generously spray the bow with Stiffen Quick (can be found at some craft stores and/or online). Allow the bow to air-dry (may be several hours) or use a hair dryer to speed up drying (may still be 10+ minutes).
Cleaning: Use a damp (not wet) cloth to spot-clean. Shout stain-remover cloths or spray can be used sparingly, followed by the damp cloth.
