Starting my Internet Radio Programme

I have travelled to many countries of the world over the last 17 years teaching Bible Students and speaking in many churches.

This season of continuing lockdown in my own home has led me to reconsider what I'm going to do with my time.

I have just finished 2 years of further study and the opportunity has been given to me to speak over Internet Radio.

So I begin my new weekly Internet radio programme on Wednesday at 4.00pm. The series is being hosted by New Life Radio based in Exeter and hosted by Mike Coles.

The programme is called Back to Basics – returning to the simple and most important things.

This will be the key note of the weekly talks.

I’ll begin with several half-hour talks on the Bible. Over the next year; I will look at a simple summary of each book from Genesis to Revelation.

In the year following; I’ll look at some of the important themes in the Bible.

Lessons from the Lockdown

Isolation is by no means rare in the lives of God’s servants: it is God’s means of dealing with them, preparing them for ministry, transforming their lives and bringing them into deeper intimacy with himself.

In this most unusual time when so many people are dying and we are locked up in our homes, several Bible characters came to mind who found themselves isolated from other people. As we look further into this matter of "lockdown" we discover that the Lord schedules isolation into the lives of his servants quite purposefully at times. When you encounter lock-down you will find yourself in the company of some of God’s giants.

In the light of all our disorientation and unfamiliar circumstances let’s turn to the Bible, can we make sense of its apparently random events and prolific array of characters? Can we make sense of it all? Is there one unifying purpose? Read on by following link below

Lockdown in the Bible

News from Summer 2020

Several friends have asked me recently if I have plans to resume travelling. My answer is simply to say that I have a blank sheet in front of me! For the present time I am at home on my first day of the new lock-down!

I am working hard to get my garden and house in order before winter arrives! During this strange time, it has been tremendously important to me to be living near to Matthew and Angie, and Beth and Gareth who have been doing my shopping, following my hasty return from Portugal. Since then I have enjoyed chilling out with both families.

In August I went on holiday to Wales with Beth, Gareth, and their children – they take their 6-berth caravan and I follow in my 2-berth caravan, so thankful that I get to share their holiday, camping in farmer’s fields with electrics and running water and not far from the sea!

These past months have certainly been different for us all. I have enjoyed zoom immensely, visiting house meetings in different locations and so blessed in fellowship! Truly, the Lord has brought us back to meet in house-churches! I have also spoken on Christian radio, on the subject of "Isolation" (this document expresses my heart and understanding of things at the present time). I am planning a series of studies for Christian radio and for Africa (Tanzania).

Travels in Tanzania

My daughter and I travelled together to visit our missionary friends Penny and Margaret in Tanzania. Penny Elliott has been there 18 years and Margaret Beckett for 14 years. Penny worked with the children in Smethwick before she went to teach and train children’s workers in the context of Scripture Union. Margaret has worked as a member of SIL (Summer Institute of Linguistics) and now works with a network of churches called Pentecostal Holiness Association Tanzania. She is also researching and writing a history of the work which began a few years after the Azusa Street Pentecostal revival. She has also developed new teaching approaches for youth and children’s Bible studies. Margaret is based in Dodoma and Penny in Dar-e-Salaam and both are associated with "Avail" a missionary organisation linked with New Life Conference.
