Integral 24 hours 2019

Momentum - Be spiritual. Pray in every way: a 24 hour gathering for men

I was asked by Matt Armstrong and Peter French from Woodhouse Fellowship in Leeds to share in the Saturday morning session on "Pray in every way" and to lead the afternoon WORKSHOP related to this.

I have provided a hand-out for those who attended which includes my main points. This includes the 2 questions, about private and cooperate prayer which we discussed in the WORKSHOP after which to finish we prayed through 4 of Paul’s apostolic prayers in small-groups.

Momentum: Pray in every Way

The subject of prayer is too vast a subject to adequately deal with in the time we had available so I have provided material from several of my pamphlets for further reading.

  1. Caught on camera - Photoshot moments - This includes King Solomon and his prayers in association with the temple (p55) and Elijah a man just like us who earnestly prayed and God answered him (p65).

  2. Fathers House - This includes Solomon's theology of prayer related to the temple (p18).

  3. Prayer in Isaiah - This has a section on Watchman prayer and the characteristics of 24/7 prayer which is examined in the life of Moses(p2).

  4. The Prayer Life of Jesus as narrated by Luke - This contains important teaching about prayer seen in the life of Jesus.

  5. The High-Priestly Prayer of Jesus

  6. The Prayer Life of the early Church as narrated by Luke

New Life Conference 2018

This summer I will be attending New Life Conference, which this year will be based at Quinta Christian Conference Centre nr. Oswestry in Shropshire.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Build!’. The keynote speaker is George Verwer, the founder of Operation Mobilisation. The Bible studies will be led by Matt Armstrong.

We will be looking to the future as we study the book of Nehemiah and consider our subject ‘Build!’.

I have been invited to prepare and deliver a workshop. This is my introduction on the NLC 2018 website.

Workshop, Preparing a talk

Derrick Harrison Monday and Thursday 11:30am

This practical, interactive workshop is to help equip people who want to begin to take steps into preaching and ministry.

I have prepared a background essay called Preaching and you can download this from the link below. I have also included for download my powerpoint.

I include here some links to teaching from the Christian Workers Programme on subjects which I can only refer to.

AOIC 2018

I have been visiting the Alpha and Omega International College in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia since 2010. That year I was there for 3 months and taught the whole of the systematic theology course which can still be viewed on this website. This will be the first year without my dear wife Barbara who died in Jan 2017. I will be visiting friends for the 3 weekends and have invites to preach in local churches. I will be using the following documents while I am here and which have been updated especially.

Revival in Scripture & Church History

The Doctrine of the Church

The Doctrine of the Future

New Life Conference 2017

Speaking very personally, when I was invited to take the Bible Studies this year I had no idea that my dear wife Barbara would have gone to be with the Lord at the beginning of this year. To speak on “God's Great Heart” in the light of Barbara’s absence is certainly challenging, but I have not questioned the great heart of God, but I do not understand why the Lord took her; nor did Abraham when the Lord asked him to sacrifice his beloved son but he obeyed God. But I do affirm in the presence of God that He is good! His character is unquestionable – and these studies are based on the character of God!

With the Conference in mind we have allocated this special page to “New Life Conference 2017” The theme of the Conference is the “God’s Great Heart” There are four sessions and the title for each session is as follows and are available to download and read:

1. God’s Great Heart is rooted in who He is in Himself - God's Great Heart No 1 (Link to Derrick speaking)

2. God’s Great Heart is understood by the Biblical meaning of “the heart” - God's Great Heart No 2 (Link to Derrick speaking)

3. God’s Great Heart is revealed as He reaches out of Himself impacting human lives - God's Great Heart No 3 (Link to Derrick speaking)

4. God’s Great Heart is revealed through us to other lives - God's Great Heart No 4 (Link to Derrick speaking)

I will be basing what I say on two of my teaching manuals; they are from my Study for Life programme but I have put them here to make them more accessible,

a) Who is God?

b) What is Man?

Revival

The subject and pursuit of Revival has become a passion for Derrick. This has led to the study of Revival in Church History. This has led to being asked to speak and write about the subject on numerous occasions. Samples are given below.

Talks given at New Life Conference in 2008 on Biblical and Historical Perspectives on Revival. The talks are supported by a PDF file on Biblical & Historical Perspectives on Revival
