The Doctrine of the Heart

This article provides a Biblical foundation for understanding who man is, and answers the question: “What is man?” Biblical Theology views man as a living person and explores the complexity of spirit, soul and body. The Biblical teaching on the Heart with its 7 sections: affection, desire, emotion, imagination, mind, conscience, and will is comprehensive and easily to be understood providing a suitable paradigm for understanding personhood or biblical anthropology – a living person made in God’s own image which is restored in new birth, when the heart is regenerated and made new, “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” (Ezek.36:26). The teaching of the heart is taught throughout the entire Bible which provides a multiplicity of illustrations and examples from the lives of men and women.
