Many lodges have programs that support your communities. To run community programs you need volunteers. Consider the other community organizations in your community and reach out to them. Working with other organizations to provide community programs allow the lodge to run a program with the help of other individuals. We are not alone and need not take on the weight of every community program. Reach out to the community for support and help. We are not alone.
ALSO getting others involved in our programs may spread a light on the Elks and win over some new members for your lodge.
Example: Local Fundraiser for the local food bank. Contact the food bank and see if they can send a representative or two to help run the fundraiser. Chances are they will find your lodge some help knowing the money raised will directly benefit them.
Your lodge is there to serve your members. Reach out to them and listen to what they would like to see at the lodge. Take notes and support their ideas. You may find some will help to make one of their ideas come to pass.
Ideas for Getting Member Feedback:
Remember that your lodge was built by the first members. Traditions were created and brought to life. As time goes on we must respect those traditions but that doesn't mean new ideas won't make for new wonderful traditions. Be willing to try something new, accept that which was before and enjoy they Elks that come together for both or just one.
