Beyond Basics is a non-profit organization which has served students in Detroit public schools since 2002. They partner with schools to provide literacy education to Pre-K through grade 12 students through tutoring, reading and supplemental programs which include mentoring, writing, art etc. In addition, they provide free books to every student and parent that enters their classroom.
With the state of poor public education in Detroit, Beyond Basics guides and supports vulnerable children to develop fundamental educational skills. With the future in the hands of the upcoming generation, this non-profit organization equips them with resources to improve their reading proficiency, and exposes them to new experiences and ideas.
