Hi! We are a group of diverse students from the University of Iowa who chose to spend our Alternative Spring Break in Detroit, Michigan. We all come from very different walks of life, but one thing that we all have in common is a passion to serve! We have enjoyed doing service in the Iowa City area to prepare for the service that was awaiting us in Detroit. Our team had an opportunity to serve with the community of Detroit. Detroit is a city that at one point had a booming economy, and is now in shambles. Going to Detroit allowed us to learn about the history of the city, pushed us to step out of our comfort zones, and make a difference.
