As early as 1989, some colleges began offering online classes. Since then, many advancements in educational tools and technology have happened; however, not every educator adapted to these changes and advancements. Fast forward to the 21st century when a global pandemic forced schools to close and required educators to adapt their teaching strategies to the online realm. Educators with varying technological skill levels scrambled to create engaging online experiences for their students. For some, the transition was seamless; for others, feelings of ineffectiveness began to surface. The challenge video depicts three educators with varying degrees of skill in creating engaging online learning experiences. As you view the challenge video (2:02), consider where do you fit in?

The work throughout the PLM will ask you to keep a journal of thoughts, reflections, and a list of resources. This can be done in one of several digital formats. Submitting a link to the journal will be a component of the final assessment. Before you begin the Professional Learning Module, complete a pre-assessment about your prior knowledge related to online learning. Click this link or click the button below to complete the pre-assessment.

When you start the pre-assessment, you will be asked to enter an email address. Please use the same email address throughout the PLM so you receive the results from each Google Form. Once you complete the pre-assessment, your score will be emailed to you. The following scores suggest a recommended starting level: 60 or lower should begin with Level 1. Scores of 61-80 should begin with Level 2. Scores of 81 or higher should begin with Level 3.
