(Insiders, 2016)
This video was created by The Med School Insiders, who explain what the Pomodoro Technique is, how it was developed, and how to use it. The narrator explains that the Pomodoro Technique is an enhanced time management strategy that allows for an increase in productivity while actively reducing the temptation of procrastination. By dividing work up into manageable intervals, students will intensely focus on a single task for 25 minutes. Once the 25 minutes are done, students can walk away from that task for 5 - 10 minutes and do whatever they want. Once the timer goes off again, the student must refocus on that task for another 25 minutes. The ultimate goal of this time management technique is to build consistent momentum by breaking down large tasks into smaller sections to feel less overwhelming while enhancing the duration of concentration. This relates back to the lesson because students are being taught how to managed their time effectively, with breaking down responsibilities into smaller fragements, students will have reduce levels of stress, lower risk of distraction, and higher chance of being confident in completing task on time.
This is a video created by Ali Abdaal where he explains 12 tips on how to effectively manage your time as a student. He goes in depth about explaining how he uses a calendar app on his Apple device that holds his to-do list, which he follows each week. He explains that when intentionally using your time for coursework, work, and personal activities, having a strict time management schedule allows you to live a healthy and well-balanced life between school and other activities. Additionally, he focused on trying to eliminate distractions. One of the biggest distractions is our devices, especially with social media like TikTok, Instagram, X, etc. Ali recommends removing your phone from your sight for 30 minutes at a time to improve your concentration on the task and lower your dependence on the cellular device. This ties back into the time management lesson because many students come from high school, where they did not have to study and could do work during school, or had minimal homework. When coming to college, many professors except you to have background knowledge in the course, and if you don't have any background knowledge, then expects you to do it on your own time. This is difficult for many students because college work is more intensive and takes a lot more work to complete. By using apps like the calendar app, TickTick, and other apps, any student can tackle time management.
