DFB events unite dedicated volunteers who generously invest their time and energy in the vital mission of removing legacy barbed wire fencing.
In 2024-25, Desert Fence Busters will primarily work on removing stretches of fence that are no longer required on lands managed by the City of Tucson, Pima County, and the National Park Service. Most of the events will occur in Avra Valley (west of the Tucson Mountains), but some may occur in other locations throughout Pima County. This is important work to remove barriers to wildlife movement, particularly between large intact habitat blocks.
Note: All fencing removal is pre-approved by the municipality that owns the property.
Fence removal efforts in Pima County are scheduled on the following days:
Friday, November 1st
Friday, November 22nd
Saturday, November 23rd
