The department has 73 students capacity in 4-year Mathematics Major Course and 87 seats for the 3-year Multidisciplinary Course. The eligibility criteria for admission in Mathematics as Major is to secure 50% in aggregate and 55%  in Mathematics at 10+2 level board examination or to secure 55% in Mathematics at the 10+2 level. The eligibility criteria for the SC/ST applicants are the same as stated by the University of Calcutta. For 3-year MDC, the students must be passed in the 10+2  level  examination General subjects as per Calcutta University norms.  Prof. Pulin Behari Bera Memorial prize  for Highest Marks in Mathematics is there in College to motivate the students.

The students who are recipient of this prize are  Biswajit Majhi (2013-14) scoring 67.5,  Shrewasi Saha (2014-15) scoring 64.875, Twinkle Das (2015-16) scoring 76.375%, Dipanjan Pal (2016-17) scoring 71.875% marks; Raju Mondal (2017-18) scoring 60.125%,  Arnab Mitra (2018-19) scoring 78.5% marks (also secured 8th position in CU),  Sayan Das (2019-20) scoring 82%.
