All the frights into or out from San Luis Valley went over La Veta Pass with trains going from or to Pueblo. The freight traffic in the valley could be divided into two parts.
One part was freight which was going to or came from the narrow-gauge rail system starting in Alamosa and heading west to Chama, Durango or Farmington. The narrow gauge traffic were during the 50s and 60s dominated by traffic to and from the oil fields in Farmington.
The other part was for the industries in the valley served by standard gauge locals starting in Alamosa and heading south to Antonito or west to South Fork and Creede. This part was dominated by the agriculture industry in the valley. Fertilizer and other loads needed for the farms came in and agriculture produces going out.
I have spent a lot of time to research all the consignee and shippers for freight. I felt that this was important to get realistic operations on my model railroad. I gathered all this information in a spreadsheet. I have converted this to a pdf-file which you can download from the link below.
