Its a tooth saving procedure done for a painful tooth where the "pulp" of the tooth housing the nerves and blood vessels is somehow infected/dead(necrosed) and causes pain, swelling or discomfort.
The pain causing diseased tooth "pulp" is treated and the tooth is filled right till the end of the root.
The procedure itself is mostly PAINLESS with the use of modern local anesthesia, however pain killers (analgesics) will be prescribed during the treatment.
Don't worry about the sittings. Where most of our RCT's take 2-3 sittings taking into account patient's convenience, we also offer Single Sitting RCT's in select cases.
Symptoms of tooth needing RCT includes but not limited to:
Pain: Mild to Severe.
Swelling: inside or outside the mouth.
Sensitivity to hot, cold, sweet or sour foods.
There may not be any symptoms at all as well.
RCT's done timely save the natural teeth , if delayed the tooth might need removal/extraction.
