GRANTS

As a non-profit childcare and learning center, the DPLC works fervently to keep tuition at an affordable rate for as many families as possible, while maintaining long-term financial sustainability and quality care and early education programming. The last few years have seem These goals are only possible through the hard work of our dedicated staff, Board and volunteers who work diligently to fundraise, write grants, and volunteer their precious time in support of DPLC.

In addition to the many valuable volunteer hours over the past few years, DPLC receives significant financial support from the following:

The Denali Borough: Annual Non-Profit Grant and Matching Grant to support completion of new baby building and improvements to existing infrastructure to help ensure age-appropriate spaces are safe and welcoming.

RuralCAP: The 2022 Thriving Communities Grant Program supported a holistic early-learning program for DPLC and Denali Borough through a gracious preschool subsidy; employee health subsidy; support for youth community programs that encourage health and fitness; and funding for staff, supplies, and training. RuralCap Foundation: DPLC received funds for a childcare support and workforce stabilization project designed to stabilize childcare in our community by offsetting costs for families and strengthening our local workforce of childcare providers. The project supports new employees in various vocations who do and do not qualify for state childcare assistance but still need financial help to re-enter the workforce after maternity/paternity leave, career transitions, or other employment gaps. I
Alaska Community Foundation (ACF) - Vocational Training for Alaska's Future (VTAF): This award helps DPLC invest in the professional growth of current and future early childhood educators by providing paid training opportunities, mentorship, supervision, and support for credential and educational advancement. By strengthening the skills and qualifications of our team, this funding helps build a sustainable early childhood workforce while enhancing the quality of care and education available to children and families throughout the Denali Borough.
AK Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant - 1 yr Supplemental funds (AKLiteracy): Provides emphasis on a comprehensive literacy programming at DPLC through support of a new term Literacy Coordinator position, several literacy aides, and high-quality literacy curriculum and supplies, and more. Support for community-wide efforts such as take-home literacy kits for Denali Borough families and collaborative literacy trainings with local organizations. Click Here

GVEA Good¢ents Program: A variety of projects including new playground equipment and support of DPLC new Baby Building. Recently in 2026, the program is helping to fund imaginative and dramatic play and learning at DPLC for all our age groups.

Usibelli Coal Mine (UCM): Matching grant support for employee contributions, financial and in-kind support for community events, facility management and improvement projects, and so much more!

Usibelli Foundation: Supports community organizations and routinely has funded integral DPLC projects for facility updates, including safety equipment and installation, facility upgrades such as bathroom renovations, and operational improvements through funding for new and improved summer programming. Recent projects include fencing upgrades, bathroom remodel, and winter snow-stop installation.
