Shavon's proposal included creating a garden to "support agricultural literacy and its integration across differenct school settings". She is a teacher in the Alamance-Burlington School System.
Skarleth will be using grant funds to "enhance her classroom's axolotl's habitat and adding hands-on science materials".
Skatleth is a teacher in Durham County .
As an English support teacher, he works with students from all over the world. He will be purchasing a poetry collection to help students connect with real-life experiences.
Alexander is a teacher in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.

Congratulations to Claire Gough and Madelon Brantley, recipients of our 2017-2018 novice teacher grants. Ms. Gough is an 8th Grade ELA teacher at Culbreth Middle School. She purchased books to teach her students about social injustices through Literature Circles. Ms. Brantley teaches 1st grade at Seawell Elementary School and used the grant money to purchase engaging books for guided reading.
