If your computer have 4GB ram(Possible to be higher but try it at your own risk),you are strongly recommended to download the 64bit operating system as it will be faster than 32bit operating system as I tried two of them by dual booting in my laptop(Dell Inspiron 1420 of course!).
Here is the full instruction of updating your drivers:

When it done it's job, some drivers can't be install so take note and scroll the name list and write down the names with the cross mark. Press the finish button. Restart your computer, and now remember to google the names that won't install. Remember the DISM and Powershell Drivers I mentioned just now in the introduction tab? Yes, they are here to rescue! If it says that "The best drivers for your device are already installed",use the same method just now but this time download it from here (Click this link, right click on the folder "x86 Powershell Drivers" and press download, extract it https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19D9qAVFxk_Uk1INqySRva4qfN9Nc11vO?usp=sharing),and again you need to restart your computer to let the drivers work. Contact me if you are having trouble updating your drivers in the "Contact Me and My Info" and I will be happy to help you. I hope that you will email me as well if you find my drivers collection nice as I use weeks to collect them and not counting the bundlers and PUPs I encounter when downloading their risky driver software......
Special note : If you have bluetooth adapter(built in) and speakers(100% got), you need .exe files to install the drivers.
Bluetooth driver : https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER94296M/1/R226750.exe (set the compatible mode to Windows 7 if your current OS is Windows 8 and above). For Windows 11 and 10 installation method is different, see Dell Inspiron 1420 Drivers - Tips and Tricks For Dell Inspiron 1420 (google.com) no.8 .
Sound driver : https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER96136M/12/R171789.exe (set the compatible mode to Windows XP SP3 if your current OS is Windows Vista and above)
I am not sure whether these drivers are compatible with Windows 8.1 and below as I never tried it.
