Teaching Techniques and Learning Journey
A little bit about Ms. Idema and her Classroom:
Communicated with a variety of personalities.
Worked/collaborated with a staff/team.
Managed resident hall buildings and multitasked.
Graduating Spring 2025 from Iona University.
Major of Adolescent Education with a concentration in Mathematics.
All the methods and materials we use are shaped by a clear conception of the vision of desired results.
Do not overwhelm students with too much information.
Students have opinions and learn and process information in a variety of ways. Be a teacher not a tyrant.
Here is a glimpse of Ms. Idema's Teaching Philosophy:
I believe teachers have a purpose and a goal to encourage others to achieve their full potential and make a profound impact on society well beyond themselves.
I believe a teacher’s classroom should be clean, sanitary, well-organized, and have a positive atmosphere.
I believe schools should be able to impart not only academic knowledge but also holistic lessons such as self-reliance and fundamental life skills.
I believe an educator must be able to establish relationships with both students and teachers and must be passionate about teaching through effective facilitation and the use of resources from the twenty-first century, to encourage students to become passionate about learning.
I believe Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory will have an impact on how I manage my classroom, how I teach, and how I connect with my students.
