The bike trails of Northeast Iowa, including the renowned Trout Run Trail, are designated as multi-use pathways. As such, trail users may encounter pedestrians, joggers, equestrians, and pets. To promote a safe and enjoyable experience for all, please adhere to the following guidelines:
Share the Trail – Reduce speed and remain courteous to all trail users. Cyclists must yield to pedestrians and horseback riders.
Ride Right – Keep to the right side of the trail and overtake others by passing on the left.
Communicate – Signal clearly when approaching others or making a turn.
Remain Vigilant – Stay attentive to other trail users, as well as any approaching vehicles.
Plan Accordingly – Utilize designated service stations for rest breaks and to seek assistance if needed.
Observe Signage – Follow all posted trail signs and adhere to instructions provided by trail managers.
Ensure Equipment Safety – Wear a helmet and verify that your bicycle is in proper working condition before use.
Important Notice: Please observe Leave No Trace principles—dispose of all waste in designated receptacles to maintain the cleanliness and sustainability of the trails.
