DECORIDE fosters sustainability, health, and connection through cycling, driven by inclusivity, accessibility, and local partnerships. By the community, for the community, we strive for a healthier, more connected, and sustainable future.
DECORIDE established in 2022 is an annual community touring bike event that brings together students, faculty, and residents of Decorah as well as wider communities around to celebrate biking as a fun, healthy, and sustainable way to travel. Officially endorsed by the Bike Council and Luther College, DECORIDE is more than just a ride—it's an opportunity to promote active living, environmental sustainability, and community bonding.
As a Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) Silver Award Winner, Luther College takes pride in fostering a bike-friendly campus and city. DECORIDE aligns with this vision, offering an exciting way to experience Decorah’s scenic trails, engage with fellow riders, and support a greener future.
DECORIDE is a non-competitive touring bike event open to everyone, regardless of background or skill level. Participants can ride any type of bike—road, mountain, e-bike, tandem, or cruiser. Non-riders are also welcome to support, volunteer, or join post-ride festivities.
The focus is on community, camaraderie, and enjoying Decorah’s scenery. Riders stop every one to two miles at rest stations to socialize, enjoy snacks, and take in the surroundings. DECORIDE promotes inclusivity, shared experiences, and fun over competition.
