[Information for authors interested in having their submissions as part of CEUR-WS proceedings]
We invite participants to submit contributions that critically reflect on personal experiences in spaces for learning CSCW research and design practices, including their efforts and challenges to have their voices heard, or promoting conversations and connections to making CSCW learning spaces more welcoming to diverse forms of knowledge and doing. We also invite participants who have not yet heard of or thought of decolonizing practices, and welcome their position papers to include a reflection on the potential and/or limitations of this approach for CSCW. Regardless, we invite all authors to include their perspectives and critical thoughts on how to promote conversations and connections that could build mutual understanding so that diverse voices and experiences are communicated and heard in such learning spaces.
To apply, Interested participants can submit a 3 to 6 pages position paper (to be an attendee and get your position paper published), or a 300 word abstract (to be an attendee) that describes their experiences and perspectives in CSCW learning spaces. We accept contributions in either English, Spanish or Portuguese. Papers should be formatted using the Legacy SIGCHI Extended Abstracts Format ( Word / LaTeX ), and should include an abstract of no more than 150 words. Position papers must be submitted in PDF format by the deadline to the following email: decolonizinglearningspaces@gmail.com. Please follow the SIGACCESS guidelines to provide accessibility.
Position papers will be peer-reviewed and final decisions will be made by the workshop organizers taking into account their relevance to any of the workshop topics and/or goals. Acceptance decisions will be sent out about a week after each deadline. With the author’s permission, accepted papers will be published on this website under the Resources section and made available and archived using the PubPub or CEUR platforms. Authors of the accepted submissions will be invited to present and discuss their work at the workshop. At least one author of each accepted position paper must attend the workshop. Organizers will provide more information about registration to accepted participants. For registration fees please visit the CSCW2020 official website for more details.
Workshop participants will be expected to read through the accepted papers as well as a list of recommended readings on decolonizing theory and praxis to consider prior to attending the workshop. This will be vital for engagement during the workshop activities.
