Winter Greetings, Grade 3 Families!
We hope you have enjoyed your time at home with each other and have made some good memories together. This has been a winter that most of us will remember for a long time! Before the snow days, the third graders worked with r-controlled vowels in Spelling and took a test. There will be no Spelling this week. It will resume next week. The third graders began reading the novel, The World According to Humphrey. There will be written homework during the week to support what we have read in school. The third graders continue to learn cursive and multiplication facts. There will be a multiplication test next week. In Religion, we were working on chapter 10, The Church Teaches Us, and we will complete it this week with a test on Wednesday. Homework on Tuesday evening will be to study for this test. In Science, the third graders have been introduced to the weather station outside. In Social Studies, they have been reading about national symbols and governments in other countries. They will look up information about these national symbols, and with the Winter Olympics beginning on Friday, they will learn about the history of the Olympics. February is Black History Month, and the third graders will research individuals to support its celebration. They will also learn about Mother Mary Lange, who was an African American religious sister who started The Oblate Sisters of Providence, as well as educated children of color in her own home in Baltimore. And we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week!
· We will see everyone tomorrow morning, February 2nd, at 9:45am due to the 2-hour delay. Tomorrow, we celebrate Parents!
· Tuesday, we celebrate HSA and Clergy, with Disciples in Service at 2:10 pm.
· Wednesday, we celebrate Community and have an American Heart Association assembly.
· Thursday, we celebrate Students! Students may dress down. There will be Bingo in the afternoon, and there will be no homework.
· Friday, we celebrate School Staff. There will be a school-wide Mass in the morning.
We would like to say thank you for sending your child(ren) to DeChantal. Jesus Christ is the reason for our school. Thank you for your faith in Him and for your support of Catholic education. Saint Jane DeChantal, pray for us.
