Liquid is attempting to solve a different problem from a conventional crypto exchange. Instead of concentrating everything inside one order book, liquid.trade acts as a non-custodial trading and execution interface spanning crypto, stocks, private-company reference markets, commodities, FX, indices and prediction markets. Its most distinctive feature is Co-Invest, which connects that trading infrastructure to AI assistants including ChatGPT and Claude.

Liquid looks like a multi-asset exchange when you first open it.
Look beneath the interface and the architecture is more interesting.
Liquid's September 2026 Terms describe the service as software, user-interface, data-display and transaction-preparation infrastructure capable of sending user-authorized instructions to third-party venues, protocols, smart contracts, wallets and other service providers. Liquid also explicitly says it does not itself operate an exchange, broker-dealer, futures commission merchant or prediction-market venue. Liquid
That distinction is central to this review.
Liquid's real proposition is not simply:
"Trade more markets."
It is:
"Access fragmented markets through one account, then make that account programmable through AI."
That could become significantly more important as trading infrastructure becomes increasingly fragmented across blockchains, derivatives venues, prediction markets and real-world-asset protocols.
Liquid is a non-custodial trading platform operated by LiquidX AI, Inc.
It provides a common interface for trading multiple asset classes, while execution can ultimately rely on specialist third-party venues.
Liquid's own recent material describes the platform as supporting more than 300 markets across crypto, stocks, pre-IPO companies, commodities, FX and indices, with multipliers reaching as high as 50x on selected products. Liquid
That gives Liquid a much broader scope than most perpetual DEXs.
A trader can potentially move from Bitcoin to gold, a stock-linked contract or a private-company reference market without switching between several unrelated trading applications.
The trade-off is that the underlying market structure can change from one product to another.
Crypto is only one part of the platform.
Liquid currently promotes perpetual markets covering major cryptocurrencies alongside stocks, commodities, FX and indices.
More unusually, it also lists pre-IPO perpetual markets referencing private companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic. These contracts provide price exposure rather than ownership in the private company. A long OpenAI perpetual position does not give you OpenAI shares, voting rights or a guaranteed allocation if the company eventually goes public. Liquid
That distinction is extremely important.
"Trade OpenAI" is a powerful headline.
But what you are actually trading is a derivative contract linked to a reference price.
That makes Liquid interesting for speculation and hedging, but it should not be confused with a private-equity platform.
This is where our view of Liquid differs from a standard exchange review.
Traditional exchanges try to attract liquidity to their own markets.
Liquid can instead sit above multiple execution venues.
Its Terms make clear that connected third parties may ultimately handle order acceptance, execution, custody, settlement, clearing, market surveillance and dispute processes. Liquid
That makes Liquid closer to an execution operating system.
The front end simplifies the experience.
The back end remains fragmented.
That can be valuable because traders do not have to understand or interact separately with every underlying venue.
But abstraction also introduces a new requirement:
Liquid needs to make the underlying route, fee structure and risk sufficiently transparent.
The easier a system becomes to use, the more important it is that convenience does not hide economically meaningful differences.
Liquid does not have one universal trading fee applying to every instrument.
Its September 2026 perpetual-fee guide says traders should consider the specific market, maker/taker status, account tier and holding period.
For its documented entry-level crypto-perpetual schedule, Liquid lists an all-in rate of:
0.095% for taker execution
and
0.065% for maker execution.
The platform uses a rolling 14-day weighted-volume structure for fee tiers, with lower rates at higher levels. Liquid
But those headline fees still do not describe the full trade.
A real leveraged position can involve:
entry fee + exit fee + spread + slippage + funding
For longer positions, funding can become more important than the opening commission.
For large positions, slippage can matter more.
And at high leverage, seemingly small fee percentages become significant relative to actual collateral.
Consider a simple hypothetical trade.
You deposit:
$1,000
and trade with:
10x exposure
That creates:
$10,000 of notional exposure.
A 0.095% fee on $10,000 is:
$9.50 per side before any applicable discount.
Entry and exit would therefore represent roughly $19 before considering funding and slippage.
That may sound modest.
But increase the multiplier to 40x:
$1,000 collateral → $40,000 exposure
Now every 0.10% of friction equals approximately:
$40
or:
4% of your original $1,000 collateral.
That leads to what we call the:
A trading fee can look extremely small when expressed against notional size while being economically significant relative to the capital actually posted.
That is why high-leverage traders should calculate costs against collateral, not only against position size.

If Liquid only offered multi-asset perpetual markets, it would be interesting.
Co-Invest makes it much more strategically important.
Co-Invest is Liquid's Model Context Protocol, or MCP, trading integration.
It connects a Liquid account to supported AI systems including ChatGPT and Claude.
The AI can access live market information including price, funding, open interest, liquidation data and news. It can also read account information such as balances, positions and existing orders. Liquid
A trader can therefore ask something like:
"Show me my current portfolio exposure and identify where I am overexposed to tech."
Then:
"Construct a hedge using gold and BTC, but keep total additional notional below $5,000."
The assistant can research and construct the order.
With standard Co-Invest, however, the order still requires explicit confirmation from the user before it is submitted. Liquid
That is an important design choice.
Yes, provided Liquid's Co-Invest connection is enabled.
But the mechanics are more controlled than simply giving an AI unrestricted access to your money.
Liquid says standard Co-Invest receives read and trade permissions.
It cannot independently withdraw or transfer funds or change account settings.
And standard Co-Invest requires confirmation before sending the trade. Liquid
That permission structure matters more than almost any AI marketing claim.
Agentic finance becomes dangerous when the same credential can:
research,
trade,
transfer assets,
change permissions
and withdraw capital.
Separating those capabilities reduces the potential blast radius of an error.
Liquid also offers Co-Invest Computer.
This moves beyond an AI assistant that waits for confirmation.
The system is designed for longer-running agent workflows capable of monitoring markets and acting when pre-defined conditions are satisfied.
Liquid documents several controls for these autonomous workflows, including maximum position notional, maximum leverage, mandatory stop losses, allowed symbols, daily order caps and authorization expiry. It can operate in simulation mode, stage orders for review or execute live within the permissions enabled by the user. Liquid
This makes Liquid one of the more advanced examples we have encountered of agent-ready trading infrastructure.
The real innovation is not simply that an AI can place an order.
APIs have allowed software to place orders for years.
The innovation is giving an AI:
market context,
portfolio context,
structured execution tools,
bounded permissions
and explicit risk limits
inside one environment.
Liquid includes paper trading using a simulated $10,000 balance against live market data.
This becomes particularly useful in combination with Co-Invest.
Instead of connecting an AI agent directly to meaningful capital, a trader can first test how the model interprets instructions, sizes trades and handles changing market conditions in simulation.
Liquid's documentation says paper mode stays active until the user switches back to live trading, and simulated activity is explicitly labeled. Liquid
For agentic trading, this should arguably be the default starting point.
Co-Invest is not limited to chat interfaces.
Liquid's Chrome integration can add trading controls alongside supported tickers on websites including TradingView.
Its current documentation says TradingView users can open a Liquid trade card directly from the chart, choose long or short, select size and multiplier, add TP or SL parameters, and confirm the order. Liquid
This is another example of Liquid's broader strategy.
Instead of making traders constantly return to liquid.trade, Liquid wants its execution layer to appear wherever the trading decision is being made.
That can be extremely convenient.
It can also make impulsive execution easier.
Liquid describes itself as non-custodial.
Its Co-Invest documentation says Liquid does not maintain a custodial account balance for the user and that wallet actions are directly authorized.
But that does not mean capital is never exposed to another protocol.
Once collateral is committed to an underlying trading venue, Liquid says it becomes subject to that venue's margin, liquidation and withdrawal rules. Liquid
This distinction matters.
Non-custodial does not mean:
no smart-contract risk,
no counterparty exposure,
no liquidation risk,
no venue risk,
or guaranteed access to collateral.
It changes the risk structure.
It does not eliminate risk.
Liquid maintains a public security-audit page and says its smart contracts and infrastructure have undergone independent review. Liquid
Its published Zellic assessment from August 2025 is particularly useful because it does not simply amount to an "audited" badge.
Within the assessed scope, Zellic reported no critical findings but did identify high-, medium-, low- and informational-impact issues.
The public version does not reveal every detailed vulnerability because some audited code was private, and several areas were excluded from the scope.
That means we would not interpret the existence of an audit as proof that Liquid is safe.
We would interpret it as evidence that a meaningful external security-review process has occurred.
For 2027, we would like to see another audit covering the expanded Co-Invest, MCP and autonomous-execution infrastructure.
Some Liquid materials describe its markets as available 24/7, including weekends. Liquid
That does not mean every synthetic market should be treated as economically identical during all hours.
If the reference stock or traditional market is closed, liquidity, spread behavior and reference pricing can differ from normal trading sessions.
Crypto genuinely has continuous underlying price discovery.
Nvidia does not.
This is especially relevant for weekend stock, commodity and pre-IPO trading.
Liquid's biggest advantage is the combination of several capabilities that are normally separated.
It brings broad derivative-market exposure into one interface.
It uses a non-custodial architecture.
It integrates with AI assistants through MCP.
It includes confirmation-gated trading for standard AI workflows.
It provides autonomous execution with configurable risk limits for more advanced users.
It supports paper trading before live deployment.
And it pushes execution into environments such as TradingView rather than requiring users to constantly return to one trading screen.
Few platforms currently combine all of those pieces.
The biggest challenge is transparency beneath the abstraction.
If a platform routes between different third-party venues, sophisticated traders should be able to understand:
Where is this order going?
What is the underlying liquidity source?
What fee am I paying?
What funding model applies?
What liquidation rules apply?
What happens if that venue fails?
The better Liquid becomes at surfacing those answers without destroying the simplicity of the interface, the stronger the product becomes.
Security also needs to keep pace with the expanding AI execution surface.
An audit from 2025 is useful evidence.
It is not enough to permanently validate a rapidly evolving 2027 agentic-trading stack.
Liquid makes the most sense for traders who want to move across multiple asset classes without constantly changing platforms, especially users interested in AI-assisted trading, pre-IPO derivative exposure, multi-asset portfolios and programmable execution.
It is also unusually relevant for developers and agentic-finance users who want a trading environment accessible through MCP.
It is a weaker fit for traders who want direct share ownership, beginners primarily attracted by high leverage, or users who prefer dealing directly with one transparent underlying order book.
The difference can be summarized simply.
A traditional exchange says:
"Trade our markets."
Liquid increasingly says:
"Use our interface to access multiple markets and execution systems."
That difference becomes even more important when AI agents enter the equation.
An autonomous agent does not necessarily care which website has the nicest trading terminal.
It needs:
structured data,
account state,
permissions,
execution tools,
risk limits
and predictable APIs.
Liquid is building around exactly those requirements.
The biggest opportunity for Liquid may have surprisingly little to do with being the next Hyperliquid.
Liquid could instead become part of an entirely new category:
Imagine a future where a user tells an AI:
"Keep 40% of my trading portfolio in crypto, hedge equity risk when volatility rises above my threshold, reduce USD exposure when the dollar weakens, and never allow total portfolio leverage above 2x."
The agent then needs to access:
crypto,
stocks,
commodities,
FX,
predictions,
liquidity,
risk limits
and execution.
That is the layer Liquid appears to be trying to build.
If agentic finance becomes mainstream, owning the interface between intent and execution could become more strategically valuable than owning a single market.
Liquid is one of the more interesting multi-asset trading products we have reviewed.
Its appeal is not simply that it offers leveraged crypto trading.
Plenty of platforms do that.
What makes Liquid different is the combination of:
multi-asset perpetual markets
pre-IPO derivatives
non-custodial architecture
MCP
ChatGPT and Claude integration
autonomous-agent execution
paper trading
browser and TradingView execution
and
multiple underlying venues behind one interface.
That combination produces real advantages.
It also produces new risks.
Venue abstraction can hide execution differences. AI adds another software layer between intention and capital. High leverage magnifies ordinary fee and slippage costs. Pre-IPO derivatives can look more like ownership than they really are. And the platform's security surface is evolving quickly.
Our current conclusion is therefore:
Liquid is not yet interesting because it has perfected every component. It is interesting because it provides one of the clearest previews of what a trading platform built for both humans and AI agents could look like.
Best feature: Co-Invest and multi-market account abstraction.
Most underrated feature: MCP permissioning combined with paper trading.
Biggest hidden complexity: the economics and risks of the underlying execution route.
Biggest security question: whether audit coverage keeps pace with autonomous execution.
Biggest opportunity: becoming the execution layer through which AI agents access multiple financial markets.

Liquid offers leveraged derivative products. These can result in rapid or total loss of collateral.
Users may also face smart-contract risk, oracle risk, underlying-venue risk, funding costs, slippage, liquidity risk, wallet risk, regulatory restrictions and AI or automation errors.
Pre-IPO perpetuals and stock perpetuals are derivatives and do not represent ownership of the referenced companies.
AI-assisted or autonomous trading does not eliminate the need for independent judgment and risk controls.
