I wondered once when I was a kid, what it’d be like in years to come
I never imagined the techno frippery to which we’d all succumb
But this it seems is our eternal hell, to stare forlorn at our screens
Should I like, follow, poke or hashtag everything I’ve seen?
Is this really progress with our information overload?
With passive aggressives, a troll and a toad
Pointless games where you can crush candy
Or throw birds at pigs, that’ll be dandy
Endless e-mails and phone calls 24 x 7
I MUST BE AVIAILABLE, or I won’t go to heaven
My eyes are tired and going square
My phone’s smarter than me, but I don’t care
Siri, Google or Cortana
Blackberry on orange or banana
I’m going back to a simpler age
Where practical skills earnt an honest wage
And computers were about the size of a house
And no one talked of an Internet browse
