Most Elves in Mystara are Sylvan Elves. This is a variant of the Wood Elf subrace from the Player's Handbook. To play a Sylvan Elf replace the Ability Score Increase with the following:

• Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma score increases by 1.

Here are backgrounds for the major clans within Mystara using existing DND sources. The write and the Characteristics may need to be adapted to better fit the clan.

Alfheim Clans

Elves who settled in Alfheim and the surroundings. These are the most common elf in the known world.

• Clan Chossum - Use Hillsfar Merchant with the Alternate Feature Trade Contact with skills in Insight and Persuasion.

• Clan Erendyl - use Clan Crafter except the bonus applies to Elves and Elven culture and with skills in History and Insight.

• Clan Feadiel - use Cloistered Scholar except the focus is on Tree of Life with skills in History and Nature.

• Clan Grunalf - use Outlander with skills in Stealth and Survival.

• Clan Long Runner - use Sage with skills in Arcana and History.

• Clan Mealidil - use Entertainer but with skills in History and Performance.

• Clan Red Arrow - use Soldier

Clans related to Alfheim, but settled elsewhere in the Known World.

• Clan Erewan (Erewan, Glantri) - Migrated to Glantri - Use Hermit with skills in Nature and Arcana.

• Clan Callarii(woods of Radlebb and the western part of Dymrak Forest , Karameikos) - Settled in Karameikos - use Soldier but with skills Athletics and Animal Handling.

The Wendar Clans

Located in Wendar and Denagoth and their surroundings these elves have as their patron a group of immortals known as The Korrigans.

• Clan Geffronell (Denagtoh, Wendar) - use Phlan Refugee.

• Clan Gellereth (Wendar) - No specific background as they have intermixed with humans a lot.

Thyatian and Minrothad Clans

Shadow Elves a race unique to Mystara. They are a standard elf with the following traits:

• Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma score increases by 1.

• Superior Darkvision. Your dark vision has a radius of 90 feet.

• Sunlight Sensitivity. You have disadvantage on attack rolls and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.

• Rafiel's Teachings. You have proficiency in Religion.

• Shadow Elf Weapon Training. You have proficiency with the longsword, shortsword, light crossbow, and heavy crossbow.

There are 4 clans that make up the Shadow Elves.

• Clan Celebryl is the clan of the government and of the warriors. They favor military and nobility backgrounds.

• Clan Porador is the clan of agriculture. They favor folk hero or other backgrounds.

• Clan Felestyr is the clan of miners and clerics (both have to do with crystals). Use Earthspur Miner or any background with Religion as a skill.

• Clan Gelbalf is the clan focused on silk, spiders and magic. They favor backgrounds with Animal Handling, Survival and Arcana. Please don't they don't domesticate spiders but hunt the for their silk.
