What is the PTA?
The PTA is a parent group creating school engagement, supporting staff, planning school events, and raising money. Through fundraising and donations, we’ve funded classroom supplies, field trips, teacher appreciation, staff salaries, and more. We are excited to welcome new families to DCIS and are happy to answer additional questions you may have as you join DCIS. Below is some information on events that happen during the school year and how to stay connected.

I'm originally from Ohio but married a Denver native while living in Chicago. We ended up moving here in 2017 and I haven't looked back! Just a few minutes into our tour I knew DCIS at Fairmont was the right fit for our family. The service learning focus and the amazing community of parents & teachers supporting the students are some of my favorite parts about the school. The pride my girls have in their "super powers" speaking and understanding Spanish has been beautiful to see grow while at DCIS.

I'm one of those rare Denver natives! I did have a 10-year detour living in Miami and Nashville, but we moved back in 2017 and have been rooted in the Baker neighborhood ever since. When we first toured DCIS for our oldest to start pre-K, I walked out with the biggest smile. The minute you step inside, you can feel the warmth and joy. Everyone lifts each other up and celebrates what makes each person unique, which is exactly the kind of environment we want for our kids.
I've absolutely loved being part of the DCIS community so far, and I'm excited to keep growing with it as both of our boys go through the school in the years ahead.

Born in Indonesia, I've lived in a few places but Colorado has been home the longest. While I love the mountains and snow, you won't catch me near cold water. We moved to DCIS Fairmont after my oldest finished first grade. We chose this school because of its strong commitment to inclusivity. From the beginning, it was clear that diverse backgrounds, perspectives and identities are not only welcomed but celebrated here.

We live in southeast Denver, but I’ve worked in the Baker and La Alma/Lincoln Park neighborhoods for the past fifteen years. I first heard about DCIS from several coworkers who sent their kids here and insisted, “You’ve got to check this school out.” I’m so glad we did! DCIS is a truly special place that celebrates the unique strengths of every student, family, and culture. I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back through this volunteer PTA role. You can usually find me on the playground before or after school—most likely wearing a Phillies or Eagles cap (go Birds!).
