Flipgrid is a tool I was introduced to recently and it has been a very innovative and effective way for me (the teacher) to be able to check understanding of a topic.
The teacher will record a video prompt, or upload a video prompt about a topic we are studying and the students record their responses and upload it using phones or computers. The students really enjoy it and it gives an incredibly new way for me to do assessment as learning.
Flipgrid has an integrated grading system so that I can assess their responses using a numerical scale if I need to.
Since I teach in an international school and the students are learning in a language that is not their first, it is also great to get the students to communicate, think about and discuss their answers in English.

Flipgrid website interface that I can see, edit or upload my topic prompt and I can see how many students have uploaded a response
Students can add stickers, images, text to their responses on Flipgrid.
This is a student response in the HL class.
Students had to create an A3 poster about the mechanisms of evolution using natural seclection and to show it visually with explanations and an example of how it can happen in nature.
Students really enjoyed this and the results were fantastic. Some students used real examples or invented their own, still including the mechanisms that they learned.
And of course we do a lot of worksheets, quizzes and past paper quesitons.
