Summary Notes before a lesson are an effective way for EAL students to familiarize themselves with the topics before the lesson.

All students found this to be the most important and useful strategy when learning Biology with me as an English speaking teacher.

Students are encouraged to do whatever translations necessary in their notest to best understand the topic.

The purpose of Outstanding Summary Notes is that when it comes time to revise, a textbook would not be necessary, as all the important and relevant information is in the notes already.

Students are expected to have a separate notebook just for Summary Notes, separate from their Homework Notebook and separate from their Class notebook.

Summary Notes were checked, graded, assessed and part of the final grade, it was compulsary. Students without summary notes did not do well in class, or on any tests or exams.
