One great benefit of working for the Pioneer Library System (PLS) is the organization's stance on continuing education. Not only is it encouraged, but it is also part of our job. Because of this, I was able to participate in and graduate from two different leadership programs, Mid-America Technology Center’s Leadership Mid-America and PLS’ own IMPACT PLS. Those are just two examples of the types of continuing education opportunities that I will take advantage of in the years to come.
Generally speaking, I am someone who loves to learn and seek out information and knowledge on a variety of subjects. This natural curiosity and desire to learn lends itself perfectly to working as an information professional. You never know what will come your way while working in a public library, so keeping up with changes in technology, media, literature, and culture are all exceedingly important. And that is what I plan to do.
