Self-Assessment

Early in the MLIS program, students must complete a Career Self-Assessment using SWOT analysis, which focuses on examining one’s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (hence the name SWOT).  The assessment includes a background section, plus a vision and mission statements, and a listing of one’s strengths and weaknesses along with potential opportunities and threats.  

My own assessment was informed by my, at that time, 8 years working in public libraries, my previous nearly 20 years of experience working for and with the public, and my own personal philosophy, values, and hopes.
