We support delegates to CODATA, WDS, and RDA, facilitating and developing relationships with working groups, task groups, and interest groups working in national and international organisations on data oriented projects
The Committee on Data (CODATA) helps realise the International Science Council's (ISC) vision of advancing science as a global public good. CODATA does this by promoting international collaboration to advance Open Science and to improve the availability and usability of data for all areas of research. CODATA supports the principle that data produced by research and susceptible to be used for research should be as open as possible and as closed as necessary. CODATA works also to advance the interoperability and the usability of such data: research data should be FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable).
The Research Data Alliance (RDA) was launched as a community-driven initiative in 2013 with the vision that researchers and innovators can openly share and re-use data across technologies, disciplines, and countries to address the grand challenges of society. The RDA’s mission is to build the social and technical bridges that enable that vision, accomplished through the creation, adoption and use of the social, organisational, and technical infrastructure needed to reduce barriers to data sharing and exchange. Scientists & researchers join forces with technical experts in focused Working Groups, exploratory Interest Groups and Communities of Practice. Individual membership is free and open to all.
The World Data System (WDS) is an affiliated body of the International Science Council (ISC). Its mission is to enhance the capabilities, impact and sustainability of our member data repositories and data services by: creating trusted communities of scientific data repositories; strengthening the scientific enterprise throughout the entire lifecycle of data and all related components creating first-class data that feeds first-class research output; and advocating for accessible data and transparent and reproducible science.
