David Medyckyj-Scott has 30 years’ experience in geoinformatics, environmental data management, and research data infrastructure in the United Kingdom and Aotearoa New Zealand. He has managed national geospatial and environmental data services, and led national and international projects in open standards, data interoperability, and federated environmental information systems. He advocates for maximising the value of publicly funded research data through responsible stewardship, greater uptake of effective data management practices, and the establishment of national research data infrastructure.

Dr Hultquist develops computational approaches to integrate and validate data on physical and human systems for decision making during disasters. A core aspect of her research is the evaluation of citizen-generated data to improve environmental monitoring of hazards at local scales. She serves as co-chair of the CODATA Citizen-Generated Data for the SDGs task group of the International Science Council working with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) on policy and the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Natural Hazards section secretary. Libby is a biodiversity scientist and is interested in the ethical stewardship and aggregation of biodiversity data. She is on the Scientific Committee of the World Data System and is their New Zealand delegate. She is also on the Steering Committee for the Genomic Observatories Metadatabase and the Group on Earth Observations Biodiversity Observation Network Genetic Composition Working Group, the Scientific Committee for the Marine Biodiversity Observing Network, and contributes to the development of the Aotearoa Genomic Data Repository. In these roles, Libby advocates for the retention of contextual metadata, enabling re-use toward biodiversity and conservation objectives, and maintaining Indigenous provenance to support Indigenous Data Sovereignty.
