A LARP (sometimes referred to as LRP) is a Live Action Roleplay game. It consists of multiple people acting together as part of one coherent storyline, plot and world.

By portraying characters within a joint world and following the rules outlined here and by the referees in play, they build their own narrative and get to enjoy and experience being a different character while making real-life friends through this shared hobby. Think of it like improvised theatre or acting, just without the audience!

LARP as a hobby is for anyone who's up for having some fun collaborating with others to make a story together - whether that be through backroom machinations, playing a funky out-there character, or prevailing over evils. The overlap between LARP and tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Vampire: The Masquerade is significant, so if you enjoy those or are just open to trying something new, then there's a fair chance you'll enjoy LARP.

Darkgate is an 18+ urban fantasy game set in the 90s, where you deal with vampires, lycans, ghosts and spooky supernatural worlds. Tense alliances between the different species of the town are held in place by the Covenant - by you.

Nothing is black and white in Darkgate - issues are complex and no villain is simply evil incarnate. Sometimes, the most straightforward method of dealing with an issue is by hitting it until they stop moving - but the most straightforward solution isn't always the best one for the moment. Your decisions truly do shape how the town will shape out.

If you like urban fantasy and supernatural investigative media like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, Being Human, Carnival Row or the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, you'll probably enjoy Darkgate. If you enjoy complex plots where you work together as a unit, then you'll probably enjoy Darkgate.

You do not have to be combat capable to participate! If you want to come along, there's just as much to do outside of combat, so please don't be afraid to come and give it a shot.
