the first - No One Will Ever Understand - APril 17, 2023
This is the first song I ever made. I wrote it on the in-browser composition website Online Sequencer after a family friend showed it to me. (Which is why the audio quality sucks.) I called it "No One Will Ever Understand" because at that period of my life, I was really depressed, and still stuck in the past, grieving for three different periods of my life. I called it that because what I've been through (I won't get into detail here) and how it affected me is a one-of-a-kind experience. I figured, in the depths of my sorrow, there was no one like me, and I was completely alone.
But the amazing C418 inspired me to try to write my own music; the Minecraft soundtrack helped me process a lot of grief, and taught me to appreciate the beauty of stillness, melancholy and nostalgia. I wanted desperately to be able to create as much beauty and more as C418, which is a goal that hasn't changed, especially now that I've heard Excursions.
For a project in one of my classes, we had to create a goal for ourselves to accomplish by the end of the year. I chose to write a song, as I'd been wanting to for a while but just didn't try for some time. I thought it would take me a long time to write a song, even months.
It took me two hours.
This is the song that had me falling in love with composition.
the Latest - TerraSoil - April 9, 2026
This is the most recent song I've written. Titled "TerraSoil", I wrote it for an in-development video game based on Hollow Knight called Fractured Remnants. This specific song is based on Christopher Larkin's beautiful song Dirtmouth. It's already one of the most beautiful things I've created. I recorded my own flute for it and I used a new VST3 I got that you will hear more of in later publications. My dad said it's one of the most beautiful things he's ever heard and remarked that I've come a long way from arpeggios, and that last comment inspired me to create this page on my website.
