Student Organization Experience
January 2017 - May 2022
Korean Student Association has been an integral part of my IUPUI experience since freshman year The first position I had was as a risk manager and a reservationist. I was responsible for reserving club events and activities locations, resolving conflicts, and coordinating between clubs. My involvement has continued as a vice-president since then. As a vice president, I have been responsible for conducting orientation for new members and event planning. This experience taught me how to solve problems through effective communication and the importance of respecting and understanding different cultures, perspectives, and values of others, which are most important in team building.
Internship Experience
July 2020 – February 2021
Sky Bio Science is a distribution company that imports biotech service products, such as animal cell culture media, resin for purification, and bioreactors. In this internship, I had the opportunity to obtain various customer service skills. I was involved in establishing and maintaining relationships with partner companies and organizations. I learned how to meet customers' and partners' needs appropriately and promptly provide pertinent resources that address their inquiries and concerns. Additionally, I gained clear communication, listening, and negotiation skills from contacting and visiting universities, biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies, and hospitals. Such interpersonal skills will help me in my professional career when interacting with team members and delivering services.
Volunteer Experience
March 2021 – July 2021
Incheon Western Public Health Center is located in the metropolitan city of Incheon, South Korea. In response to the needs of residents, the health center provides various health services for disease prevention, health promotion, and life extension programs according to stages of the life cycle. I volunteered at the selective screening clinic during the period when the Covid-19 was rapidly surging. Maintaining order, handling complaints, and providing safety education were challenging tasks while wearing protective equipment for nearly five hours. However, I learned patience, positive attitudes, empathy, and openness to feedback, all of which will be valuable in customer-facing situations.
Mandatory Military Service Experience
August 2017 – July 2019
As an Information and Strategy Administrator, I performed administrative duties on the unit operation and developed operation plans and training strategies. This experience taught me an appreciation for challenges, teamwork, leadership, occupational competence, mental and physical strength, and assertiveness. The most memorable event was when the existing night tactical shooting training method was replaced with a new strategy developed by myself and other intelligence officers, which is still utilized today. Among these skills, my analytical and problem-solving skills will allow me to make strides in my professional career to advance quality improvements and impact the overall organizational goals.
