A student of Damon Zick and Hitomi Oba, Danilo Gutierrez is a saxophonist who graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor's of Music Degree in Jazz Studies. While accomplishing his degree, Danilo completed all requirements to qualify for the Single Subject Credential in Teaching-Instrumental Music and currently is working towards his teaching credentials while placed at La Quinta High School and McGarvin Intermediate School in the Garden Grove Unified School District.
Danilo has performed in various settings, such as the Cal State Fullerton Chamber Jazz Ensemble, Cal State Fullerton Symphonic Winds, Pasadena City College Latin Jazz "A", Pasadena City College Lancer Big Band, Quarteto Viejo Saxophone Quartet, and various jazz combos, including the General Area Jazz Combo. He has also been able to study with Bill Cunliffe, Rodolfo Zuniga, Dr. Greggory Whitmore, Dr. Katherine Reed, Dr. Brain Carmody, Kye Palmer, Paul Kreibich, and more.
Raised in La Puente, California, Danilo believes that all students, regardless of ethnic identity or socioeconomic background, deserve a high-quality music education where the student can thrive in a positive, safe music-making environment.
