The International Mechatronics Congress took place in the Monterrey Campus of Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2017. For one weekend, more than two hundred mechatronic engineering students from all over the world tested themselves in several robotic competitions with topics such as maze solving (MazeRunner), robotic wrestling (RoboWars), and item delivery (MediBot).
The idea behind the MediBot competition was that given a flat arena of approximately 3x3 meters with regular obstacles, the robot should be able to place a given 'cargo' of three items in reduced sectors that were strategically marked in the arena. According to the difficulty of the accessed area, the number of items successfully placed in them, and the time of execution points were rewarded.
My teammates and I were able to obtain first place controlling the robot using a MyRIO FPGA and a generic wireless USB controller. Sadly, only one photo of our winning robot could be found.
