As my Bachelors I was investigating the buckling behavior of 1mm thin circular plates. The knowledge of such studies can be applied on the fields of lightweight structures where buckling is always a source of danger.  

The object of this project was the protection of a sensor on an overheated weapon barrel. I had to make sure the temperature must not go beyond 70°C. The goal was reached with application of a insulating layer and additional cooling ribs.
