Tableau Dashboard – Product Profitability & Cost Analysis
This Tableau dashboard was developed to analyze product category performance with a focus on profitability, cost efficiency, and sales trends. The goal was to identify which product lines are contributing most to the bottom line and where the business may be losing money.
Key visualizations include average cost per unit by category, total revenue, profit margin by category, and total profit and cost across multiple sales territories. A quarterly profit trend line offers a historical view of gross revenue by category, while bar charts show the volume of orders and top 10 least profitable items to highlight areas needing attention.
One key insight was that although bikes generate the highest revenue, they also have the highest average cost and one of the lowest profit margins. In contrast, accessories—while less expensive—showed strong margins, making them valuable for overall profitability. The “least profitable items” chart helped spotlight specific products that may require pricing adjustments or removal from the lineup.
This project gave me hands-on experience in data interpretation, dashboard design, and identifying actionable business insights. It also sharpened my ability to communicate findings clearly through visual storytelling using Tableau.
